GTBank Ogun State Principals Cup: Schools get 5m cash prize.
A total sum of N5m has been presented as cash
prize to the winning schools of the just concluded Season one of GTBank Ogun
State Principals’ Cup Competition.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at
the Conference Hall of the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, the
Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Ogun State, Mr. Olugbenga Otenuga said
apart from the monetary reward, the state could now boast of a pool of soccer
talents for many age-grade competitions, festival teams while five players good
enough to take part in the screening by Gateway United FC of Ogun State for the
2013/2014 League Season.
The state’s Commissioner for Education,
Science and Technology, Olusegun Odubela said the collaborative efforts of the
two ministries produced the laudable result and had helped the pupils to see
sports as a better complement to academic activities.
He urged the schools to go back to the
drawing board and prepare well for the Season Two which would commence as soon
as they resume for the next academic session. The Principal, Community
High School, Adesanolu, Mowe, Mr.Toyin Awobodu, on behalf of all winning
schools thanked the state government and the sponsor, GTBank, for the
opportunities given to the pupils to show-case their God-given talents and
promised that Season Two will be better as many schools would take part in the
competition.
Alamuwa Grammar School, Ado-Odo received
N1,000,000.00 as the overall winner of the Boy’s Category, Remo Divisional High
School, Sagamu received N750,000.00, Adeola Odutola College, Ijebu-Ode
N500,000.00 and Community High School, Adesanolu, Mowe received N250,000.00.
Also,
in the Female Category, Orile Ilugun Comprehensive High School received N1,000,000.00,
Our Lady of Apostle, Ijebu-Ode, N750,000.00 while Community High School, Abule
Iroko and Remo Divisional High School, Sagamu received N500,000.00 and
N250,000.00 respectively.
